Dear Friends,
Of course, 1927 being the more recent, should be published. Again, a
great thank you for Edgar and his assistant(s) for this complex and
time-consuming undertaking.
I have found the whole family, friends, acquaintances, familiar names,
everything, and at least for the family, all names and dates were
correct. The Golds,my grandmother who was a doctor's widow but unlike
other such widows, was listed as a private person, my father working at
the time in Zürich not listed, were living in the Rathausstr. nr. 5,
also uncle Isidor Gold (called Onkel Iusiniu) who worked at the Court of
Justice as Oberlandesgerichtsrat (counsellor). His son Erwin, my
father's cousin, a lawyer, lived at nr. 7, which I hadn't known until then.
The same goes for my husband's family. Everything was found.
His mother and family lived in the Morariugasse 8, almost opposite the
house where Rose Ausländer was born. A glimpse in the past, somehow this
black on
white document makes it all so real to us who were not there.

As to Hardy's photo of today - we visited Frau Zuckermann in 2001,
together with the film director Volker Koepp. She looked well but
fragile, an old sweet lady, surrounded by books and photographs. Still
a staunch supporter of Kaiser Franz Joseph, whose photograph was on the
wall. She was very happy to talk Jiddish with my husband, and was
charming to our daughter.
The post came and brought books and lots of letters, from Israel,US, and
Germany. She had become famous!
Next day she joined us for the celebrations of Rose Ausländer's 100th
birthday at the National Theatre.
We are still in contact with her son, Felix.
