Dear CZer's and Miriam, Regarding Scazenits, I learned of this place on my
first trip to Mogelov with my late husband, Rudolf Koenig. The leader of
the Jewish Community Center, and the make-shift Jewish Museum, Mr. Avram
Kaplan had a home-made map about about the size of 4 feet x 6 feet. He had
drawn the various labor camps in the area and each camp had a tiny red
(Christmas-like) bulb lit up to delineate the area he was discussing. He
pointed to a camp area and said the word Scazenits. Rudy's head dropped; his
expression was one I had not seen over our 20 years together. "Rudy, what
happened? What's wrong?" I asked. "My camp," he said as he wiped the tears
from his eyes.
As many of you know I bring or send humanitarian aid to the elderly, sick,
disabled Jews that still live in Mogelov. I also have published a little
photo-essay of my trips to Mogelov.

If anyone wants to order The Forgotten Few please write to me. Also, if
anyone is interested in sending money to the Jewish Community there, please
contact me and I can give you the needed information. (I usually note that
my donation should only be used for food or heat.) So yes, Miriam, there
is a Scazenits.
Shalom, Cora
