In answer to Hardy's question about why the work in the cemetery, cutting
the saplings, was not done in the winter:
They could not cut the saplings so far this winter, because there was a lot
of snow and I want them to cut the saplings as close to the ground as
possible. Also, lots of people in Chernivtsi were sick with flue and not
able to work. Recently it has become warmer, actually unusually warm and
yesterday I received a letter from Dr. Bursuk, to let me know that they will
again be working on clearing the cemetery, starting this month.
