Welcome, dear Oded,
As far as I know, your grandfather, Kalman Gronich was in the '30ies the
General Secretary of the Saffa Ivria association. You can find his portrait
and group-photos from the Saffa Ivria schools (with your mother, her sister
, my cousin, my uncle) on the Ehpes site , under " Pre-1945 photos" , first
entry "List Member photos" , the pictures #32 to #36.
Your grandfather Kalman Gronich was also an activist in the Zionist Ichud
Party. He appears in an interesting photo in Zlila Ebner Helman's "Mayer
Ebner Memorial Album", Vol.II, #15. May be Zlila or someone else on this
list could locate ( Czernowitz? Volksgarten?) and date the picture and find
some clues to the festive event depicted there.

Hello

My name is Oded Blaustein and as a new member I'd like to introduce myself
to this list

My mother Fritzy Gronich was born in Czernowitz and lived there from
1929-1944 when her family escaped to Palestine. Her parents were Kalman
Gronich (among other enterprises activist for Sefa HaIvria and Keren
Hayesod) and Lutcy Sperber. Lutcy's brothers were Adv. Rudolf Rudy Sperber
and jewler Ignatz Isiu Sperber her sister Gisela Gisa Sperber.My
greatgrandfather Rafael Sperber ran a tavern in Czernowitz until his death
in 1936. His wife was Berta Glucksmann Sperber

My other greatgrandparents were Feivel Gronch and Mariam Brender of
Sadagura and later on of Czernowitz. Other connecting families are
Glucksmann , Rauchwerger, Eisenberg and Gottlieb..
Another of my connections to Czernowitz is from my mother's sister's late
husband Marcel Meir Enzer who was a relative of your active member Irene
Fishler. In addition my mother was a classmate in the Sefa Ivria school
of Irene's cousin Mia of the Ehrenkranz family. Their teacher was among
others Chaim Ehrenkranz.

I was born in the USA. Moved to Israel in 1975 and work as an attorney in
Jerusalem Your list has provided me a chance to further my understanding of
my mothers childhood Oded Blaustein
