[Cz-L] Extraordinary Longevity at Gurahumora

Extraordinary Longevity

"At Gurahumora in the Bukowina (Austria) there lives a Jew named
Feiwel Merdler,who has atteined the extraordinary age of 117 years.
Merdler enjoys excellent health and has a remarkable appetite;his mind
is still clear,and his memory unimpaired.Until two years ago he was
still able to travel horseback.He has seven children,of whom two sons
and two daughters are still living.These seven children have given him
82 grandchildren;his great-grandchildren cannot be counted,being
spread over Roumania and the Bukowina.An idea of the number of the
patriarch's descendants may be gathered from the fact that one of his
sons,Jacob Merdler,who is eighty years old,has himself seven
children,thirty grandchildren,and fourteen great grandchildren,all of
whom are alive.Others of his children have already great,great
grandchildren,so that the venerable paterfamilias has lived to see
five generation of his descendants."
