Shalom Jerome,
The similarity of the 2 paintings is striking.
I believe Daphna Yisrael could ask the experts she worked with last summer
in Cz.
Is she a List-member?
Nice story.
Regards,
Irene

Czernowitzers...

I would commend for your viewing a very interesting album focused on the
wall and ceiling paintings of the Alt-Nye Shull in Novoselitsa. These photos
and accompanying notes were sent to me be Yosi (Jerry) Eshet who is involved
with the Novoselitzer Landsmanschaft.

The direct link to his album is at:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/czernowitz11/novoselitsa-shull/index.html
or
from the Menu on the home page http://czernowitz.ehpes.com -> Cemeteries &
Towns... -> click on Novosalitsa-Shull.

Most interesting (for me anyway) is the similarity in artistic styles of the
paintings in rabbi Kofmansky's Czernowitz synagogue as shown in Paul Heger's
recent album and those in the Novoselitsa shull

For example, have a look at
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/czernowitz11/novoselitsa-shull/048-c13.jpg
and compare it to:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/czernowitz8/pessach/014-P1000537a.JPG

If I had to wager, I would bet they were painted by the same person.
What do you think? Any idea who the painter(s) might be?

Best,
jerome
