Hotel Schwarzer Adler was the most prestigious hotel and coffe house meeting
place for the Czernowitz "aristocracy."
Re Wijnitzer Rebbe, you do not specify before which war?
Before the first World War it was indeed Reb Isroel, but between the two
wars it was Rebbe Eliezer'l the "Damesek Eliezer." I have been a talmid in
his Yeshiva between 1937 and 1940.
