Shula, If a button fell off as I was on my way out of the house, by
mother would bring out needle and thread, hand me a piece of thread to
chew on and then proceed to reattach the botton to the garment I was
wearing.  She said that this was meant as a profilactic against having
my brains sewn in with the button....
