Hi Anni, what a terrible story, I bnew the Gelband-shoe-shop in the
Hauptstarsse, very well known for good quality shoes..it was opposite to the
shop of my uncle Agatstein..."Tricotaje" (At Ringplatz was also in the 20.th
a big shoe-shop "Salamander", I remember the owner named Dubenski, his son
was a famous actor and his daughter Ilse was "Miss Roumania) The uncle
Hermann Agatstein and his wife Amalia, were also hidden and gave up, and
because the apartment was "versiegelt" the aunt came to my mother for some
clothes and underware because they had nothing...so they went to Sibirien,
the aunt died for hunger, he survived , maried there ms Auerbach, whose
husbund also died there, and came with her1965 to Israel, (she had some rich
family, who bought them aut,,,not only Ceausescu was a bussynessman!!!!)
When I was for the first time alowed from Romania to travel alone (my
mother, husband, 2 children remained as custody there) to israel I met uncle
Agatstein at Tivon and I heard tfor the first time he whole terrible story,
also that my cousin Edith Agatstein, maried at Tours, France, she and her
husband, physicians, with their 8 years old boy, were deported to
Auschwitz, where she and the boy were immediatly gazed, the husband was
"lagerarzt" at DR/Mengele and surwived...
