What memories - all could be printed and not forgotten. Every one of the

Anny's story indeed terrible, Arthur's memories delightful.
I read his story to my mother - her family of 8 also had a washing
woman, for 3 days - for washing, for drying and for ironing. In those
days they
ironed everything.
furthermore, even in Bucharest we had a man who brought us fruit in a
big dirty bag, but I remember he was a bit secretive about it, probably
afraid to be caught.
As to Ilse Dubenski - she lived in Köln and in the 1970/80 my husband
organized an evening for the Jewish Community of Düsseldorf.
He played the cello and Ilse Dubenski -blond, delicate, elederly but
still attractive - read from well-known literature. We did not know that
she had been a Miss Romania, but probably other Czernowitzers did.
