[Cz-L] RE: czernowitz-l digest: July 04, 2010

With all the talk of food and recipes, an inevitable questions comes to my mind. What are food costs in Chernivtsy today? In fact, I'd love to find out what food prices are in European countries, in different cities in the U.S., in Israel, Australia, wherever Czernowitzers are today.

I'm in Toronto, Canada, and I get the sense that our food prices have increased dramatically in the past 12 months. And now they've added taxes to certain foods, too.

If anyone is visiting Cz this summer please check out what they pay for the following basics: Milk, eggs, cheese, bread, fish, chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, string beans, apples, oranges and bananas. I have a feeling we're all in for surprises.
