While Czernowitz is a place in our memories and our being (as Henry writes:
'time and heart'), it is also a real place and at least some of us have the
need to compare what we remember, or think we do, with what we can learn
about it from photographs, books and of course from visiting the real city
the real place.
It is tremendously reassuring to find our opinions and memories confirmed or
refreshed and to understand that this city, this place, was worthy of our
love.

Think of the very livable plan of the city, of all the beautiful buildings,
the open squares, the Volksgarten, the cobbled streets!
Whenever I am in Czernowitz, I admire them and wish I had them in the city
in which I have now lived for 42 years.

Czernowitz has changed, but compared to many other cities, which are hardly
recognizable after 65 years, it has fared well. The center of the city has
mostly been preserved, the Volksgarten is well cared for and some of the
streets and squares are now put to better or at least, more esthetical use.
