Cz-L]Do you love Czernowitz ?

  Do you love Czernowitz ?
What a silly question ! Nobody in Cz. would come up with such a question !
 What we loved was Latkes and Srawberries in sour cream.
   And going to the Roemerbad for a Schwitz on Friday !
     And eating a fresh Semmel filled with Schinken .
     Loving Czernowitz ? The streets the houses ?
    Before leaving in 46 I never saw any other town.
    We heard of Prague ,Vienna and Berlin.
     People who had been there said they were nice, too.
  But many left the city before the war., if they only could.
   Most could not .
     In 1946 all of them could ,and so all of them left.
    Only then did they start loving Czernowitz.
      The Czernowitz of their youth
    The farther they are ,the longer the time, the more they love it.
     The strongest feelings come from Australia.
       Because they are very far and also below the equator.
        And , of course , because of the kangaroos .
