[Cz-L] Leah Bela Stern

Hello everyone,

I have been following these posts with interest and delight for a while now,
but this is my first post. I am a 50 year old woman living near Seattle
Washington, but I was raised in a Jewish neighborhood in Pittsburgh,PA, and
my maternal grandma and her family were, I believe, from Czernowitz. She
came to the US in 1920 or so, when she was about 20 years old. I have a
photo of her from that time. What a beauty!

Here is all I know, and maybe one of you out there knows something about my
family.or knows where I can get more information:

My grandmother spoke English, but not well. her first language was Yiddish.

Her maiden name was Leah Bela Stern. her sister was Fanny and her brother
was Sam. her mother was named Jenny Stern, maiden name of Marsh. i am not
sure about what business they were in but I believe my great grandma Jenny
ran some sort of guest house, and perhaps her husband was ia butcher.

My grandma made great potato Latkes, great chicken sout, but other than that
was a pretty horrible cook!

I know this is precious little information, but who knows, maybe one of you
has some information for me. I have virtually no living family so if I can
learn anything it would be such a gift.
