Hello Jonny and list friends,

I also have a Rosa Schmidt on my family tree.
This Rosa is my grandfather (Josef Mordko Rosner)'s sister, born in
Kisselitze to Mendel and Bluma (Blima) Rosner, as Bernhard and some more
children.
Rosa married Schmuel Schmidt, and both owned first the "zum Schwarzen Adler"
Hotel, and later - the Palace Hotel in Cz..
Their grandson, Menachem (Fredi) Rosner, Emeritus Professor at the Haifa
University, Israel, told me that family lores has it, that there is a
relation between his grandfather Schnuel Schmidt and Josef Schmidt.
Menachem, over 85, does not remember exactly how.
Jonny - do you have any clue?

The history of this branch of my family is sad: Menachem's parents, Yetti
(Daughter of Schmuel and Rosa Schmidt) and Bernhard Rosner drowned with the
"Struma", and my grandparents, Hendel (Helene, nee Pfau) and Josef Rosner
lost their lifes in Transnistria, "on the other side of the Bug), and we do
not know exactly where and when.
Another cousin of my father and Menachem, is Sami Schaefler, who passed
away about 3 years ago in N.Y.

I recently joined the group and here is a short story about my family.
Please forgive my English. My main language is Spanish.

My father was Berthold (Benjumen) Heiss and my mother Rosa Schmidt.
Both were born in 1906 and grew up in a small town near Czernowitz,
called Vascauti. My grand father was Jacob Schmidt, a brother of the
famous singer Joseph Schmidt.
