[Cz-L] Stampede on Herrengasse.

One day in 1944 or 45 as I came out from a matinee show in
 the cinema Select on the Herrengasse , I could see a crommotion
 at the Ringplatz .

   A crowd of people was coming up the Herrengasse .
 They were running. A stampede.
       Soon shots were fired from the pack ,in all directions.
   Now I could make out : Soldiers were chasing somebody,
   everybody joined in shouting and pointing aimlessly.
    I got out of the way on the sidewalk.
     As the stampede passed me I asked a runner what was the
     meaning of all this .
    " Shpiony" -( spies) was the answer.
      They were chasing spies.
