Dear Abraham,
Thank you very much, I always like to read and hear people telling about
their lives in Czernowitz and 'after".
Richard Weiner's story ( are you on our list, Richard?) makes me "doppelt
stolz" ( 2X proud) :
First, because his fond memories of the Meislerschule and because he
mentions my beloved aunt ,the teacher Flora Singer.
You can find Richard and his teachers on the following link. These
pictures were first published on the Ehpes -site by Lucca ( a talented
writer ).

Second, we share the same "Alma Mater" , The University of Bucharest ,the
Faculty of Physics , which, I believe, was (even in hard times) a very good
school, too.
Regards,
Irene

Weiner

I would like to refer to the very recent e-mail from our fellow
Czernowitzer, Prof. Fred Schneider, regarding the interview of Prof. Richard
M. Weiner at the Marburg University in Germany. For those of you who have
some difficulties with texts written or discussed in German, I found an
interesting English biography of Prof. Weiner which you can easily access by
either copying the following link or typing in the URL line of Internet
Explorer. It is Chapter 1 of a long article/essay called "Childhood".
Born in 1930 in Czernowitz, his story brings us back to our childhood and
the events in Cz. since then and until 1945-1946 when he left Cz. to
Bucharest.

I found this Chapter 1 (consisting of 20 pages) very interesting and would
recommend to our List's moderator to publish it on the Ehpes website.
The URL to that article is:

Additional interesting information can be found on Wikipedia.

Best, Abraham K.
