After the brutal assasination of our Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo , our crown
prince and heir of our beloved Franz Joseph, it was clear that this meant
war.
This we could not take !
We had to stand up and fight to defend the honor of our beloved Empire.
So we did ! Our fathers - that is.
My father, though under age , volunteered and fought the war in Serbia
and was wounded in Montenegro.
With every occasion he showed us the scars of his bullet wound.
He also was at battles at the Isonzo river in Italy.
The rest of the Jews fled to Vienna where they were refugees and
got embibed with Kalman operetta music.
The central powers (this means us ) won every battle on the East front
and finally lost the war.
At the end of the war the Empire went to pieces.
So went our Habsburg dream.
