hello everybody!
About Askenazim, Sephardim, Khazars, Yiddish language, etc., there is a quite interesting book entitled <Yiddish Civilisation - The rise and fall of a forgotten nation> by Paul Kriwaczek, published in UK in 2006 by Phoenix, an imprint of Orion Books Ltd. It goes back as far as the Romans (and before) and explains plenty in respect of history. Unfortunately it does not focus specifically on Czernowitz: what a pity :-) !
Regards,
Charles
