Thanks everyone. But any success has to be shared with many others.
Carl Ulrich and Nick Martin started the whole thing, around 1998. We
quickly grew to about 28 members simply emailing each other sharing
knowledge of our Sadagora and Czernowitz ancestry. As we continued
to grow, it became too difficult for everyone to maintain a group
email list with all current members. So the idea of a listserve
based list was born and agreed upon. In June 2002, the Czernowitz
list was started with our original 28 subscribers.

Jerome Schatten was the very first new member to join. He'd been
corresponding with Aizic Sechter, one of our "originals", and signed
right on. We then announced our existence to several other mailing
lists, and by June 12 we had 47 subscribers. Jerome offered to
create and maintain a web site for the group, and
<czernowitz.ehpes.com> was born.

Without the vision of Nick Martin and Carl Ulrich, the leadership of
Jerome Schatten, and the continuing contributions of all of you to
the discussions that fascinate and enlighten us, there would be
little to crow about. Personally, I've learned so much from people
like Edgar Hauster, Mimi Taylor, Merle Kastner, Fred Schneider,
Abraham Kogan and many many others, that I can't begin to thank you
all.

Early on we were delighted to find a few original Czernowitzers like
Perl Fichman and Fritzi Schiffer (of Sadagora). Now it seems like
we've reunited so many original Czernowitzers. It's an
accomplishment that I couldn't possibly anticipate. We've also
helped reunite families long separated by the holocaust - one such
reunion received international attention and a few of you might
remember the news in 2006:

Whatever I have done has been gratifying, but please let me share the
thanks to the many others who have had a part in making this list and
associated web site such a success.

Thank you!

Bruce (proud to be a distant cousin of Mimi, Merle, and probably a
few others on this list!)
