Hi Phil! Have you tried using the data supplied by Edgar Houster?? Also,if
you ever get to Czernowitz you would be able to get birth certificates for
born in Czernowitz from their archives. Cornel

Hi Jane,
Unfortunately the names you list , although familiar sounding, do not have
any significance to me. My Dad's name was Moishe Katz, a local electrical
repair man, an avid semi-pro, or professional soccer player, and a
motorcycle racing enthusiast. I know his store was located somewhere in
the
center of Czernowitz, as I once`recall having seen a photo taken from the
outside of the store on which there was hung a huge sign which read "KATZ"
I am
quite certain he was born in Ccernowitz in the late 1890's and was a
soldier during WW1, supporting Kaiser Franz Joseph.

My Mom's name was Baby (no misspelling) Wolloch who came from Lukavetz, a
part of Bukovina in those days. She became my Dad's second wife I believe
sometime in the mid to late 30's. I was told by them, that I came along
on September 27, 1941 in the ghetto? Can not say for certain , as I never
saw or had a legitimate birth certificate. My Dad had a son from his
previous marriage, Salo Katz, who was many years my senior, but who I loved

dearly until his death in New Hampshire where he lived with his wife and
children. When he arrived in the US in 1951 along with us aboard an old US
Army
Freighter, USS General Blatchford from Bremer Haven, he shortly thereafter
changed his family name to Alex Kelton.

So in a nutshell, there it is Jane. Thanks for trying to help, and maybe,
just maybe someone may remember something. In any case, I truly
appreciate the effort to assist.
Best,
Phil
