she is 8 years younger than me, but I had in the Maria Theresiengass 6 a =
friend, Mura Datz, and perhaps your mother remembered her, that was in =
the 30.ies...From 1940-1945,, except the ghetto, I lived in the =
appartment of my mother in law at the same street, at 11 A. Two weeks =
after the roumanian-german army eoccupied Czernowitz, the Maria =
Theresiengasse was shut by cars and SS soldiers entered in every house =
to arrest jewish men...The ucrinian housekeeper showed them where lived =
jeish families.My husband and the neihbours were taken to the=20
 waiting cars and to the Cultural Palace,next to the actually Jewish =
Museum, one week before Rabb.Dr Mark and 300 Jews were also arrested =
there and than brought to the RomanWood and shot...On this afternoon was =
a storm so hard, that the cars could not travel with the arrested jews =
to be shot and in the same evening came the order from Bucarest to stop =
the shooting...The majority of the arrested men were deported to =
Transnistria, My husband was rescued by a german officer from the air =
army, who was his classmate student at the Deutsche Technische =
Hochschule, Prague....,Life writes novels...Was your garndfather, living =
in the same street also arrested??

My husband told me that he had a claamate Bendit, I don't remember the =
Name, Salo may be, whouse father was a taylor.. after the bac he went to =
Paris to study medicine,,,may be some relative to your mother??I have =
the foto from the last class and I know which one is Bendit

        When I visited Czernowitz this year, an official guide =
disqualified this explanation saying that the Star of David is a =
universal symbol.

        By the way, my mother is 84 and also born in Czernowitz Her name =
was Erna Bendit; parants Leon and Yetti Bendit, they were tailors; Lived =
on Maria Theresiengasse 6.
