To bring my modest contribution to the discussion on the presence or absence of Jewish memorials, I wanted to share with you a very short
text I've written in complement of a long article about the Holocaust in Bucovina. These texts are intended for a special issue of Revue d'histoire de la Shoah on the Shoah in Romania to be published in March 2011.
This text is the result of my investigation on the last months of the lives of my grandparents in Mikhailovka.
As you can imagine, it is with all my heart (and kishkes) that I wrote it. I think that this type of texts, which give back humanity and presence to those that are no longer, are the finest tribute we can pay to all the nameless dead.
Florence Heymann
PS: some technical questions: 1. The text is in French (nobody's perfect!), 2. How to send it?, 3. I have not yet asked for the authorizations of reproduction of the map and Daghani picture
