[Cz-L] Refreshing memory

  Dear all,
While reading the contributions of some list members I feel directly
addressed and would like to make a point.
The attempt to compare the fate of Poles; Romanians; Ukraineans and many
other nations with the destiny of the Jewish nation is
misleading and naive. While the above-mentioned nations fought eternal
wars for supremacy, the Jewish nation was the only one to
be confronted with total extinction. A small but decisive difference. In
the ill-famed Wannsee conference, the leadership of Nazi-Germany
proclaimed the"Final Solution"of the Jewish people. Never in history did
any nation proclaim the total anihilation of an enemy nation - and they
almost succeeded. By the way, all the above mentioned nations
participated actively in the Holocaust.

We should keep that in mind, forgive, but never forget.
Martin Buber, in his story about Baal Shem-Tov describes a discussion
the great rabbi had with his zaddikim. When asked to give a definition of
Messiah, the redeemer, he thought for a while and gave a wise answer: I
don't know what Messiah is, but am convinced that the way to
Messiah leads through the gate of remembrance.
