RE: [Cz-L] Snitifker [update]

The message below from Edgar Hauster I believe should have gone to the
list:

Dear friends,

I've checked all - released and not yet released - Czernowitz
directories, reaching to the following conclusion:

There are identical entries for

Snitifker Josef Anstreicher Roschergasse 48 a
Snatifker Moses Anstreicher Fabriksgasse 9 b

in the directories for the years 1908 AND 1909, but NO similar entries
in the directories for the years

1936, 1927, 1924/25, 1914, 1906, 1905, 1898 and 1895.

So, the Sni(a)tifker Mystery continues.

PREANNOUNCEMENT: The Czernowitz directory for the year 1927 is now
edited and will be released very soon!

Now more about Snitifker... Lilian Madfes has been communicating with
Damian in Spanish, so at the least the Telephone game has improved
outcomes. As Cornell reported finding USA references to this surname,
the Ellis Island Database seems the next logical step. 
Maybe Lilian can ask D. if he's familiar with using the Ellis Island
stuff? 
Hardy's observation is interesting --  Sniativka ? A suburb  of
Snyatyn ? Folks researching Snyatyn might know something about that
surname. Lots of things to check out for this fellow to check out.
Ultimately though, he's going to have to take charge of his own
research.
