  Dear all,
Somehow I feel responsible for the rising tension between different
members of the List and their opinions.
When I sent my last two e-mails "Haunted by Czernowitz" and "Refreshing
memory", I did not intend to provoke any conflict but presented some
facts and asked for reciprocal respect for freedom of opinion.
Unfortunately the conflict escalated and degraded, taking forms of
personal accusations. As far as I know nobody from our List ever declared
that the population of today's Czernowitz is antisemitic. This is an
invention. Nobody from the List has to prove anything. This unpleasant
fight for opinion supremacy should not be a model for controversial
arguments. Everyone has a right to express emotions and experiences, but
this cannot replace facts. All the actions undertaken by different youth
organizations are very praiseworthy and a sign of hope for the future,
but again the official policy has not changed. This is a fact.
Learning from this experience I decided to refrain from further
contributions to this subject.
