In connection with Hardy's assumption that many of the earliest Jews of
Czernowitz came from Galicia, I know that my maternal grandfather did come
from Galicia. The town might have been Horodenka, but I am not certain. This
is the DORF family. My great grandparents are buried in Czernowitz cemetery.
Further, there is a list of "Tolerated Jewish Farmers in 1808", that
indicates two DORFs that came from Galicia, who might very well have ended up in
CZ.
