Czernowitzers...
Inspired by an article in "tomorrow's" edition - i. e. 30.10.1932/2010 - of "Der Tag - The Day" (http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/), I've created and posted a virtual Czernowitz Art Gallery to our Ehpes.com Blog
http://ehpes.com/blog1/2010/10/26/czernowitz-art-gallery/
>From the above mentioned article (p. 7), we learn, that - despite the worldwide economical crisis - an art exhibition took place in Czernowitz in October/November 1932. Among the artists we find
Arthur Kolnik (Ivano-Frankivsk 1890 - 1972 Paris)
Solomon Lerner (Kiev 1890 - 1963 Israel)
Bernard Reder (Czernowitz 1897 - 1963 New York)
George Löwendal (Saint Petersburg 1897 - 1964 Bucharest)
Wladimir Zagorodnikow (Kursk 1896 - 1984 Graz)
Paul Konrad Hoenich (Czernowitz 1907 - 1997 Haifa)
Paul Verona (1897 - 1966)
Berthold Klinghofer (Paltinoasa 1899 - ? Italy)
Isidora Constantinovici-Hein (Campulung Moldovenesc 1889 - 1980)
and many others. Some of them got a great international reputation, as for example Bernard Reder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Reder), who's works are currently held in many collections, including the following:
* Whitney Museum of American Art
* Museum of Modern Art
* National Gallery of Art
* Brooklyn Museum
* New York Public Library
* Art Institute of Chicago
* Museu d'Arte Moderna in Sao Paolo, Brazil
* Hofstra University, Long Island, New York
So, please join me to the Czernowitz Art Gallery and please let us know your impressions. Depending on your feedback we'll prepare a much more comprehensive collection, to be released on the Ehpes website.
Enjoy the museum visit!
