David Glynn' s postcard.
   Regarding bad weather, David sent us a postcard in which the winter of
   1928-9 was brought up as an extremely bad winter.
      To tell us the story, David took pain to copy the German text of a
   postcard specially bought for his mother for underlining this and then
   translate it ,which he did .
        He did a good job.
      All this , to underline the severity of the said winter which was a
bad
      winter , no doubt.
      Instead of being thankful for this contribution , our attention was
      diverted on the orthography and style of the writing !
         A study on German grammar , which is a pain in the backside.
         The bad weather was put aside.

        1928 - 29 must have been a very bad winter.
          -40 -45 C we did not have every year.
          I remember -27-29 C when the nostrils sticked close on a deep
breath.
          And your tongue sticked to anything metal.
             And your wet socks froze to your feet.
                   There is nothing as bad as wet socks on a winter day.
