Czernowitzers.... This below from Harry Jarvis about his sister Sonja
Jaslowitz.
Dear Jerome, Marianne Hirsch has suggested that I approach you for
assistance. Sonja was born in 1927 and was deported,with my parents, to
Cariera de Piatra in Transnistria. Whilst in the camp she wrote a
large amount of poetry (see my Wiener Library file) and on her release
in 1944 was killed aged 17 during a bombardment of Bukarest. Marianne
has the poems which she sent to Vienna for translation and publication.
The attached photo is the last of her, probably in 1939 when I was
already in England. Marianne thought that you may publish this with the
photo as we cannot identify the school uniform. ?? LF2.
