Hello everyone!
Let me contribute with a little dissonant point of view about the connection with WOBJ.
I have nothing against Die Stimme – my late mother also received it on a monthly basis in Paris, and it happened more than once that I read an article or another to which she had drawn my attention. It’s a good thing that “one of us” will be able to connect on both sides: congratulations Arthur!
But, in respect of WOBJ, my reaction can be summarized in the word “Beware!”
I consider our group, the Cz-List, as completely free, tolerant and open-minded – even with a (good) moderator who is always right, as he just makes sure we continue to behave as “Menschen” and keep our discussions on what we have in common.
I believe that the Cz-List is not earmarked by any extremist political or religious issue. Of course, its members have different life experiences and opinions, the only common element being that they all have roots in Czernowitz/Sadagura – say Bukowina : each of us can accept that another member feels and reacts differently, as long as this other does not try to force on him/her his own ways in a direct or indirect manner.
For example: I love most of Hardy’s mails, I like him a lot and I know he likes me. Still, I do not agree with his overall positioning about Ukrainians (i.e. they are all bad – even today!), but he doesn’t force it on me and I understand it is governed by specific pain and anger that he controls with great difficulties… And I could go on with many other different examples.
My life experience tells me to beware of earmarked organizations in order to keep my "esprit critique" as a "Mensch". So far, I am not at all convinced that the WOBJ is as free, tolerant and open-minded as the Cz-List.
Therefore my advice (to those who accept it): OK to exchange with Die Stimme and the WOBJ on a mutual beneficial basis, but be careful and make sure to remain an independent open-minded “Mensch”.
Please, be sure that I have no intention to discuss this matter any further: it is just a small warning remark of mine and I may possibly be wrong.
Regards,
Charles Rosner
