   There were the mountains.
Then there were the forests of beech trees and firs.
And the bears and wolves and auerochses and wild boars.
Then came the Dacians from the South and Slavs from the East.
Then came the Romans and Traian .
They mixed and became Moldovians .
The Turks were stronger and took over.

About this time , a horse-driven carriage carrying
salt sacks, approached the reaches of the Prut .
Moische the driver, scratched his beard looking at the black waters
 and said:
" If I got it right , what Shimshon Lemberger said ,
somewhere here must be a shallow stretch
where I can bring the salt across.."
And then he found the place..
And they called the place Chern.

Then came the Russians and beat the Turks.
Then came Poles and Lithuanians and Cossacks .
Then came Austrian Habsburgs with good Kaisers.
Then there was war and the Habsburg lost to the Russians
who were busy with a revolution at that time and so the Moldavians
who in the meantime became Rumanians and had a German king,
       took over.
Then there was another war and then the descendant of Moishe the
balegule , took what was left of his clan , put them on his
taradaika
        and moved south.
As he climbed the last hill from where you could see the town
he turned around , looked at his town and said :
" A Riech in seiere Kishkes" which in simple language means
" May an evil spirit enter their entrails".

              The Jews are gone now,
                The Rumanians are mostly gone,
                  The Austrians are gone,
                    The Germans are gone,
                      The Poles are gone.

Last week they spotted an auerochs near Sadagura.
