Czernowitzers…

In "today's" edition (i. e. 24.11.1932/2010) of "Der Tag - The Day" (http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/) we note under the headline "Triumph der Bescheidenheit - Triumph of Modesty" (p. 2), that Czernowitz got in November 1932 it's first ambulance.

Attended by archbishop, rabbi, mayor, general and other distinguished guests, Czernowitz inaugurated it's technological achievement, which replaced the one-horsepower-ambulance-carriage. Heinrich Goldmann, the author of this article, is impressed by the modesty of his fellow citizens, as comparable cities have got at the same time medical centers as the Charité in Berlin [one of the largest university hospitals in Europe], buses, huge tramway networks, automatic telephones, bitumenized roads, pneumatic tube systems, not to mention underground railways, skyscrapers, main-line stations, zoos, museums, parks and elevators in almost all buildings in the major cities.

Yeah, Czernowitzers set a good example for modesty!? So, please read and give a quiet smile!
