I remember Geffner first of all for his "Salate de Boeuf" and "Ikra". When my parents were
not at home I had an open account there, at a walking distance of 2 minutes. His chief waiter and also son in law was a certain Iziu a redhead whom I liked and admired. When Iziu (sometimes in 1938/9) opened his own restaurantvis a vis on the premises of the Hotel Bristol I went with him (although may be the Geffner food wasstill the better one).

Gabe, situated on the right side of the Herrengasse, some 3 or 4 buildings from the Ringplatz,
had the best Krenwuerstchen in town, what in Vienna they call Frankfurter mit Senf und Kren.
Of course I can't give any first person opinion about the beer served in any of the above restaurants:
At that relevant age of 8 to 11, I preferred Sodawasser.
