Hi, Cornel!

I am writing the mayor of Chernivtsi demanding that he provide you with a monthly stipend for tourism promotion, which you do par excellence. Your reference to the airport brought back some mental pictures. I was there as a youngster watching gliders fly. They were primitive, of course, looking like a telephone pole with a bicycle seat added and wings. I'm not sure if they had wheels or they simply slid in as if they had sled runners. They were taken aloft by being pulled by a vintage automobile but they actually flew and it was most impressive to a kid my age. It has had me making paper airplanes for 80 years.
I vaguely recalled that the same field was used once by trick horseback riders, possibly visiting Russians or Asians of sorts. They would actually stand on the horse as it galloped and would shoot arrows at targets as they passed them.
I checked the airline. It seems you have to fly into Timisoara which, I believe, is now an international port of entry.

Cheers,
Andy Halmay
