Yosi you are right.
Once the exits of the villages were closed the massacres took place. It was a
free for all. I found this out on my visit to Pohorlauti and Zastavna. My
grandmother Weisinger and various Uncles and other Family members who could not
escape were taken to the river murdered and cast into the river. My grandmother
was murdered in her own home she was to old to move. Another reason I am enraged
that the period of sheer unbridled murder 1941 - 1945 should be shunted to
oblivion because it ruffled the feathers of some. Truth and fact seems to
transform into fiction. Jews suffered. What Jews????
Were there any Jews in the Bukovina??? Did anything happen from 1941 - 1945 to
the Jews??
I was castigated recently because I remarked that antisemitism is alive and
well. The current difficulties where the exhibits in the Museum are controlled
by some censoring authority proves me right. This is another form of oppressive
antisemitism.
Nobody is asking the current authority to assume blame or responsibility. But
the Museum should be allowed some leeway to memorialise those terrible events
1941 - 1945 it suppose to be a Czernowitzer Jewish Museum. I am sure Petlura and
Bandera would have no such problems.

Talking about mass graves around Czernowitz. There are two which I personally
visited: The mass grave of the Boyan Jews in the Novoselitsa graveyard, and the
mass grave of 839 Novoselitsa Jews which is located in a field between
Novoselitsa and Stroyinitz. As far as I could find out there was not one
settlement in northern Bucovina where Jews were not massacred by soldiers and
local collaborators on the first days of the Romanian-German reoccupation. All
that before the deportation started.
