The Cz-L originated as an English language discussion group, and
quickly encompassed a number of members for whom English was a 2nd or
distant 3rd language. As a native English speaker, I am SO greatly
appreciative of the fact that we have such a high percentage of
participants for whom English is not their primary language. I
regret that there are some who are unable to participate due to lack
of command of English, but I have so much respect for members who
post messages even in much less than perfect English. Thank you for
your extraordinary efforts to communicate with the rest of us, and
please don't be deterred by any concern over less than perfect
English.
The year 2010 was a milestone for our list. We had (by my count) a total of
3,178 messages posted - 37% more than in any previous year! I can
graph it out if you'd like, but the number of posts ranged from 664
to 2,327 annually between 2006 and 2009. Clearly, we're succeeding!
Family connections have been renewed; old friends have been reunited;
and we've even helped brother and sister survivors of the holocaust
reunite after each had assumed the other had perished in the
holocaust. Knowledge of life in the old days, and a sharing of
genealogical resources, have helped us all learn about our families
and their lives back in Bukovina.
Thank you all; I've learned so much, and it doesn't stop here!
