Hi Merle, Marc and Sylvie!
In my book “Emancipation – Etes-vous (aussi) de Czernowitz” I mention Michel Drucker as well as some other names of Czernowitzer.
In September 2007, knowing that he was to invite the French Minister of Justice (at the time Mrs Rachida Dati) at his TV show “Vivement Dimanche” in October, I did sent a copy of my book to her, asking to be so kind and hand it over to Michel on that occasion. I got an answer from her communication adviser, saying that she’ll be delighted to do so, etc. I never received any acknowledgment from him.
More recently, in December last, I found out that a certain Mme Françoise Coquet and the company DMD Productions in Paris (MD stands for Michel Drucker) produced all his shows for many years. I again sent an exemplar of my book, mentioning my doubts that the first one was ever given to Michel, stating that I wanted the unique experience of Czernowitz to also be known in France and asking for a simple acknowledgment of receipt. Today, two months later, still no reply.
And I remember that Florence Heymann told me that she did send her book “Le Crépuscule des Lieux” to Michel Drucker in 2003, but never got an answer…
So, you will understand why I consider him rather as a “talented” Jewish boy with Czernowitz roots and even as a “Landsman” (why not), but so far I would certainly not call him a “good” one…
Nevertheless, I will also read his new book and try to know him better: maybe I’ll change my mind…
Regards,
Charles
