In my family SOBEL from Poland (now Ukraine), I have the following notation:
Came 1921 from Southhampton via Paryszere, Nadworna
Josef Eiferman age 37 b. 1884
Sali Sobel Eiferman age 26 b. 1888

Don't know if it helps, but thought I would pass it along since the name is
unusual.
