The Yiddish Theater (formerly Scala cinema), was very active in 1944. I remember a rather funny incident. Stanger the choirmaster arranged for us (students at Yiddish Middle School No. 3), to visit the theater where aside from Sevilla Pastor I remember the main male actor called Sekler (Heinrich?). The funny incident, for one of the more modern plays, they needed some people to just fill the stage (Figuranten). I was offered to be one of them, the bait, I would get a pair of white long trousers and also some meals there. I was ready to accept, we were in very difficult financial conditions, my father was "sitting" in the NKGB hotel on Austriaplatz, but my mother vetoed it, -ein Statist im Juedischen Theater, mein Sohn, niemals !!. That was the end of my acting career.
