What do you mean by lower and upper ? Topography ?
The old and poor lived in the North and East and slopes to the South and
West.
 The rich and emancipated lived around the Ringplatz ,Herrengasse
and in the West of town.
   The poor lived in the apartment houses with inner courts and
  gangways . The rich in mansions with orchards.
 Stroll through the steets of Cz. today and soon you become an expert.
  Of course there are exceptions to this.
   Everybody knew Yiddish.
    Not everybody spoke Yiddish.
      It was not fashionable .
       But the German they used was not very far away.
