Czernowitzers...

Hardy drew our attention in March 2011 to the drawing of Mr. Landmann, who died in Transnistria. This small drawing was made by Erwin Schäfler on 04.01.1942. Mimi asked for additional information on this drawing, the artist and the Landmann family. Aizic, Hedwig, Lydia, Paul and others participated in this thread. Therefore I released a picture of the drawing, biographical data for the artist and an additional link at our Ehpes.com Blog:

As mentioned before, the drawing was made by Erwin Schäfler, born in Vienna, who left Austria for Romania in 1937, escaped to Ukraine in 1940, joined the Red Army, served on campaigns, returned to Transylvania in 1946, emigrated to Israel in 1958 and deceased in the year 1965. The artistic style is evocative of Arnold Daghani's artwork and - Eureka! - in Arnold Daghani Collection of the University of Sussex we discover a most interesting hint for ISAAC AND ANUTZA LANDMANN:

I'll take Erwin Schäfler's drawing "on stock", dedicated for the next update of the Czernowitz Art Gallery.

I do hope these data will be useful to you!
