As we were finishing the cleanup of the Jewish cemetery in Vashkivtsi,
this old woman from Kitsman arrived and started to pray at one of the
graves. We asked if she knew the deceased and she said no, she came
to the cemetery to pray for the dead because no relatives or friends
came to pray for them. Even though the cemetery had been overgrown,
this woman cam several times over the years. When we told her that
we had come to clean up the cemetery and in the process had found the
grave of our grandmother she looked up at the sky as if her prayers
had been answered.
