Of all superstitions the one of the needle was the most dangerous.
 The needle was considered deadly and mentioning of the name alone - fatal.
  Therefore it was avoided with by all means.
   And so if you wanted a needle you asked for " the pointed one "
    ( dus Schpitzige ) or " the pricking one " ( dus Stechige ).
      It was strictly forbidden to pass a needle from hand to hand ,
    always laid somewhere by the giver and picked up by the receiver.
       A needle was a Nadel in German and Nudel in Yiddish.
       A noodle was a Nudel in German and a Loksch in Yiddish.
        Lokschen mit Muhn( poppy seeds) and sugar added was a delicacy.
          And still is.
