As usual, I disagree. Czernowitzers always disagree,
because they ,of course, always know better.
Those of us who were born in Czernowitz or Cernauti and spoke German
as our first language, are "Richtige, wirkliche Czernowitzer".
( proper, true Czernowitzer). We can be graded according to our degree of
conceit, but let's leave this to another time.
Then there are the "naturalized" Czernowitzers", they were not necessarily,
born in Cernauti, do not necessarily speak German, but have an interest,
a basic knowledge of what Czernowitz was like and more importantly, they
esteem and value, what Czernowitz stood for.
Then there are the "accidental" Czernowitzers, they may have been born there
or not, Their parents or grandparents may have been born there or not.
They may know German or not, what is most characteristic of them,
is that they do not care about Czernowitz, its culture, Jewish heritage,
buildings and monuments about the spirit that made it CZERNOWITZ,
"Eine Welt Anschauung" (a world view).
