I was in Czernowitz for a day last week and stayed at the [relatively
new] George Palace Hotel. It now has a web site: www.georgpalace.com.ua

I only stayed there as the Magnat Lux in the center of town, where I
have stayed before, did not have a room available.

I much prefer the Magnat. The rooms are better furnished and it has a
warmer atmosphere; the George Palace was very cold.

There is no longer an air connection between Kiev and Czernowitz. I
took the evening flight to Ivano Frankivst and them had a two hour
car journey. Unfortunately the flight from Kiev, which was due to
depart at 8:40pm did not leave until midnight, arriving in IFO at
1am. I understand that is not an uncommon occurrence. I made the
return journey by car, leaving Czernowitz in the evening and breaking
the journey overnight in Mezhibuzh.
