Czernowitzers et al...

Thanks to our fellow member Mark Wiznitzer - Mark, the privilege of meeting you was definitely on my side!

I had the unique opportunity to attend the opening of the exhibition "From Dada to Surrealism - Jewish Avant-Garde Artists from Romania" at the Jewish Historical Museum (JHM) in Amsterdam on 31 May 2011, releasing an article at:

http://hauster.blogspot.com/2011/06/from-dada-to-surrealism.html

This outstanding event has been made possible by the dedication of many art enthusiasts, but specially by

Joel J. Cahen - Director
Tsale Kirzner and Prof. Lorraine Uhlaner - Members of the Board of the JHM
Radu Stern - Guest Curator from Bucharest

and at the official opening participated the Romanian Ambassador to the Netherlands, the President of the Federation of the Romanian Jewish Communities and many guests from Romania, the United States of America, Israel, Germany and other countries. Our fellow member Mira Rinzler, the wife of Gaby Rinzler, is the niece of one of the leading artists, Tristan Tzara, and contributed some family photos at the request of Radu Stern. Mira and Gaby were invited to the opening, but could not make it, so I did it for you, Mira and Gaby, and went to the opening accompanied by Klaus Geldmacher (http://www.klausgeldmacher.de/), a good friend and contemporary German artist, who implemented Jewish themes in his creative work too.

We were so deeply impressed by the exceptional quality of the exhibited artworks, that I would strongly encourage you not to miss this unique exhibition running until 2 October 2011. Mark Wiznitzer gets to the point: "For those who have the opportunity to visit Amsterdam before October 2, this is a must-see and most amazing exhibition. It is scheduled to go on to Israel and the US (NYC)."
