Now I begin understanding the memorial inscription:
" In memory of Jews prisoners of the Czernivtsi Ghetto"
  The Ghetto has an adjective : Czernowitzer Ghetto.
   The Jews don't. They are not Czernowitzer Jews .
    They are just Jews.
     And we proudly call ourselves "richtige wichtige-Czernowitzer".
      Just Jews who happened to be there,

I admire your optimism, Mimi.
The first 28 years of my live happened in USSR (first 19 in Czernowitz) and
what I learned is not to assume and speculate. The facts are : Czernowitz is
a Ukrainian city and the locals try their best to look good. Up to a point.
They gave the Jews a place and PERMITTED to erect the memorial.
In my time they did not try.
When I first wrote about the discrepancies in the inscriptions, I knew what
I was talking about. One of my favorite Yiddish expressions is "Rebbe
geld". I paid mine. Most of us did.
