Hi Lydia, I am sorry to correct you, the Russians left Czernowitz in 1941,
middle or end of juin, they were on the other border of the Pruth, when the
roumanian army murdered already in the town...Oh , it is a long, painful
story, we were taken, all the Jews of our Maria-Theresiengasse to the
Jandarmerie, the women released, after corporal searching for arms...by two
soldiers...where can a nude woman hide arms???one by one...the men.of our
house were let out after 3 days, because the cornel Ciocardel, the chief of
the Jandarmerie, occupied one appartement left by the russians , in the
house, where we lived, All the j women (there were only Jews. went in
delegation to him, with a silver tablet, with rings, watshes, golden chains,
asking the eliberation of our men..and he did it...the other arrested were
deported to Vapniarka...
This is one of my experiences, there are many more, with the SS. than with
the NKGB, than after the war with the roumanian "Securitate", I hope that my
3 garndsons will not have such experiences..
