In answer to all the who wrote about the recently unveiled Ghetto memorial
in Chernivtsi:
So we get our facts straight:
At the cemetery there is a memorial to the 900 Jews killed in Czernowitz
In 1941.
To the best of my knowledge there is no memorial to those who were murdered
in Transnistria or on the way there.
Josif Zissels who with his own funds and on his own advice set up the Jewish
Museum in Chernivtsi, had plans to restore the prayer hall (Leichen-halle)
at the cemetery as a Holocaust museum.
I do not know whether he still plans to do so.
In the Ukraine there are holocaust memorials in Kharkiv, Kamianets Podilsky,
Kiev, Odessa, Lviv, Uman and more. In Romania there are holocaust memorials
in Radauti, Dorohoi, Iasi, Dej, Cluj, Oradea, Bucharest and more.
In some locations the memorials are large sculptures, in some they are a
tablet attached to a stone. Sometimes they are located in the local Jewish
cemetery, sometimes they are in the center of the town, usually in front of
the local Synagogue.
You can see some of these memorials at:

The Czernowitz-List has more than 300 members.
I do not know how many of us would want to get involved in erecting
a memorial to the Czernowitz Jews who perished in the holocaust.
Those who are interested in erecting such a memorial, would need to dedicate
to this project, both considerable time, as well as money.
